African Batique Painting

All paintings are unique and 100% hand made - some using bark cloth specially imported from Kampala. Their technique varies - various forms of batique, as well as acrylic paint and collage, and a local technique of tie dye known as Bubola.

Most works are abstract, showing broad cultural influence. Themes include life in the traditional village, men and women sharing work and the humour inherent in much of the african way of doing things. The 3 artists also have a knack in common for depicting the movements and rythms of traditional African dance.
